King's Cup

Wednesday, 30th April:
A disappointing beginning to our defence of the King's Cup against Market Overton BC.
MOBC won on two rinks with one rink drawn; match points scored HSBC - 1, MOBC - 9.
Rink scores:  Rink 4 - James Cregan, Claire Cregan, Peter Orridge and Bob Penny v J Abbott 14-14; Rink 3  - Eric Faulconbridge, Anne Spaulding, Glen Roberton and Fred Thorpe 13-18; Rink 2 - Mike Jones, Harold Cramp and Dennis Hopkinson 11-17. Unfortunately, on rink 2, HSBC only had 3 players due to a no show; this reduced their score by 25%, but this did not affect the overall match points scored.
The number 13 was definitely our unlucky number on two rinks. Rink 3's game was evenly poised up to the 14th end, but, on 13 shots, didn't pick up a shot on the last 4 ends. On rink 4, HSBC were 5 shots up after 12 ends, but, on 13 shots, picked up only 1 shot over the next 6 ends resulting in the draw.
